Founded in 1909 by world-famous chocolatier Milton Hershey, the Milton Hershey School provides children who are disadvantaged with a diverse variety of resources and opportunities. Children enrolled in the school’s program enjoy high-quality educational services, housing, health care, as well as career and life training provided by qualified professionals. A residential institution, the school also provides students with recreational facilities and clothing—all at no cost to the participating children’s families. Thanks to the Milton Hershey School Trust, students are able to participate in the program tuition free, and may even qualify for scholarships for college and other forms of postsecondary training.
For the benefit of interested parents and students, the school maintains a website dedicated to providing detailed information about the school and its many programs. For more information, including a listing of available on-campus resources, frequently asked questions, and more details about the application process for children age four through 15, please visit http://www.mhs-pa.org.
