Established by philanthropist and chocolatier Milton Hershey in 1909, Milton Hershey School provides cost-free education to young individuals from low-income backgrounds. At Milton Hershey School, the faculty members and staff take pride in their incredible capacity to foster the growth and well-being of their students.
In March, the Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) honored Sharice Johnson as a 2018 Afterschool Champion. Ms. Johnson, the student program leader at Milton Hershey School, was recognized for her efforts in producing meaningful afterschool programs.
A program leader for more than 12 years, Ms. Johnson developed an annual event called Girls Grace, which aims to inspire female high school students to expand their social intelligence and grow as effective leaders. Girls Grace features keynote speakers and a variety of activities such as workshops and glow yoga sessions.
PSAYDN recognized Ms. Johnson and her fellow Afterschool Champion awardees during the organization’s annual meeting.
