MHS Helped Prepare Student for Valuable Career in Cancer Research

A co-residential academic institution serving students in pre-K through 12th grade, Milton Hershey School provides more than 2,000 students from low-income families with a cost-free education. Milton Hershey School focuses on delivering students a comprehensive and top-notch education that prepares them to lead a successful life.

MHS helps students achieve their goals and lead productive lives. MHS 2015 Alumnus of the Year, the director of a pediatric cancer research lab at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. J. Anthony Graves, PhD, MD, enrolled at the school when he was 14 and quickly developed his leadership abilities. He participated in the school’s various academic and athletic programs. In addition to valuable learning opportunities, Dr. Graves explains that the school provided him with the nurturing environment and positive relationships that set him on the path to become a successful student and award-winning researcher.

MHS president Pete Gurt notes that Dr. Graves exemplifies how MHS’s principles, such as service to others and hard work, can be applied in the real world to meaningful causes.
