MHS Alumna Deesha Dyer Named White House Social Secretary

Founded in 1909, Milton Hershey School provides top-notch education, along with a structured home life, to students from lower-income families. Milton Hershey School offers an excellent educational foundation to prepare students for continuing education, and provides financial assistance through its continuing education scholarship program. Many MHS alumni have gone on to achieve career success, including White House social secretary Deesha Dyer.

Appointed by President Barack Obama in 2015, Deesha Dyer oversees official presidential events and visits. Her career at the White House began in 2009, when she served in the Office of Scheduling and Advance as an intern. Previously, she had earned an associate degree in women’s studies and worked as a freelance writer.

Deesha Dyer cites her time at MHS, which allowed her to grow and meet people from different backgrounds, as a factor in her professional success. Also active in community service, Deesha Dyer earned MHS’s Alumni Achievement awards for her service contributions in 2005.
